Cecilia Lawinski, our well-known Translator / Interpreter in the Polish and Latinamerican
community in South Florida has returned from Peru, her native country, where she spent
a month vacation with her family. Her parents, Alexander and Hilda Lawinski founded
the Chopin Society in Lima, Peru on April 1975 to contribute to the propagation of
polish culture and music in Peru. Cacilia's sister, Olenka Bobrek established the
"Friends of Poland Association" in Trujillo, northern Peru, with her husband Professor
Wladyslaw Bobrek Honorary Consul of Poland in Peru.
During her stay in Peru, Cecilia met Polish Ambassador Zdzislaw Sosnacki and made a
significant donation of books of art and history of Poland (over 100) to the Library of the
Embassy of Poland in Peru for use of the Polish community in Peru.
Cecilia was awarded "Perunisima" Award by the Peruvian Community in South Florida for her
contionus help and support of Peruvian culture in the United States. She is the co-producer
of "PERU Y SU GENTE" a weekly program on Peru featuring "Cultural Mosaic" aired in TV Cable
36 Saturdays at 9:00 a.m. and Mondays at 10:00 p.m. (Channel 17 in Broward County).
